1: AISI 1215 Steel Introduction
SAE 1215 steel is a low-carbon, sulfurized free-machining steel. It's America steel grade from ASTM A29. It is a standard steel grade from the SAE/AISI system. With excellent machinability, good surface finish, and consistent chip breaking, SAE 1215 is widely used in the high-volume production of precision parts, such as shafts, pins, fasteners, and various fittings. SAE 1215 is generally supplied in a cold-drawn or hot-rolled condition with a bright surface.
