Product Description
EN 10084 DIN 1.6587 Alloy Steel Bars
1: DIN 1.6587 Steel Introduction
1.6587 steel is a medium-carbon Cr-Mo-V alloy structural steel compliant with the EN10084 standard. This German-grade material exhibits exceptional strength, high hardenability, superior fatigue resistance, and enhanced high-temperature stability. These outstanding properties make it ideally suited for critical high-stress applications, including turbine shafts, high-pressure bolts, aerospace components, and power generation equipment. It is recommended to cut in annealed condition during processing, and low hydrogen electrodes should be used for welding. Compared with 42CrMo4, its low temperature toughness and hardenability are more prominent due to the nickel content, while it has similar performance with AISI 4340 but belongs to a different standard system.

6: Goods available in China
In China, 1.6587 alloy steel is primarily supplied on a made-to-order basis, with hot-rolled round bars and forged preforms requiring 5-8 weeks production time. Specialty steel distributors may occasionally stock limited sizes with 4-6 week lead times. The material is supplied with full EN 10083-3 compliance documentation, including Charpy impact test results at -40°C for critical applications. Minimum orders generally start at 2 tons for standard sizes, with additional ultrasonic testing available for large-diameter forged products.
