1: AISI 4617 Steel Introduction
AISI 4617 steel is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum series alloy steel. It is an American steel grade from ASTM A29. With good hardenability, high strength, and excellent toughness, AISI 4617 is commonly used in the manufacturing of carburizing parts such as gears, shafts, pistons, and other critical components. SAE 4617 is often supplied in an annealed condition suitable for subsequent carburizing heat treatment processes.

If you want to purchase 4617 steel from China, for both hot rolled bar and plate, it can be difficult to find ready stock in the market. This is because the domestic market commonly uses 20CrNiMo as a substitute. If you can accept 20CrNiMo instead of 4617 material, it will significantly improve availability and save cost.
