DIN 17210 20Cr4 1.7027 Case-Hardening Steel
1: 20Cr4 Steel Introduction
20Cr4 is a low-alloy chromium steel grade from the DIN 17210 standard. As a case-hardening steel, it offers good strength, toughness, and wear resistance after carburizing or carbonitriding. With moderate hardenability and excellent machinability in the annealed condition, 20Cr4 is commonly used for parts requiring surface hardness and core toughness, such as gears, shafts, camshafts, and transmission components.
This steel is typically supplied in a normalized or annealed condition with a hardness range of 150-200 HBW. After heat treatment (case hardening), the surface hardness can reach 58-62 HRC while maintaining a tough core, making it suitable for dynamic load applications.
