42CrMoS4 is a S-series free-cutting alloy structural steel within the Cr-Mo series. It's a European steel grade from standard EN 10083-3. With high strength, good hardenability, and excellent machinability due to its sulfur content, 42CrMoS4 is widely used for high-strength parts that require extensive machining, such as shafts, bolts, gears, and connecting rods. 42CrMoS4 is generally supplied in quenched and tempered condition.
