1: 20MnCrS5 Steel Introduction
20MnCrS5 is a low-alloy case-hardening steel from the Mn-Cr series, conforming to the European standard EN 10084 and DIN 17210. With its low carbon content and added sulfur for improved machinability, 20MnCrS5 offers good core toughness, high surface hardness after carburizing, and excellent wear resistance. It is commonly used in components requiring a hard surface and a tough core, such as gears, shafts, pinions, camshafts, and transmission parts.
20MnCrS5 is typically supplied in a normalized or annealed condition with a hardness range of 160-220 HB. After carburizing and quenching, it achieves a high surface hardness of 58-63 HRC, making it suitable for high-stress applications in the automotive and machinery industries.
