ASTM A681 AISI H13 Tool Steel
1: AISI H13 Steel Introduction
H13 steel is a Cr-Mo-V series hot work tool steel with medium carbon content. It's an American steel grade from ASTM A681. H13 steel is widely used in various high-temperature tooling applications such as die-casting dies, extrusion tools, forging dies and plastic injection molds.
H13 steel typically contains 5% chromium and 1-1.5% molybdenum, providing exceptional heat resistance. It's generally supplied in annealed condition for machining and then hardened to 44-52 HRC for final use. Due to its combination of thermal shock resistance and wear performance, H13 is a preferred material for aluminum die casting, hot forging and other thermal processing industries where tools are subjected to cyclic heating and cooling.
