1: AISI D2 Steel Introduction
D2 steel is a high-carbon, high-chromium cold work tool steel. It's an American steel grade from ASTM A681. AISI D2 steel is widely used in various tooling applications such as blanking dies, forming rolls, cutting tools, and industrial knives.
D2 steel typically contains 1.4-1.6% carbon and 11-13% chromium, giving it outstanding abrasion resistance. It's generally supplied in annealed condition for machining and then hardened to 58-62 HRC for final use.

Hot-rolled and forged D2 maintains 2-4 weeks lead time for common dimensions, while precision-ground tooling blanks require 3-5 weeks production. The material is commonly supplied with mill test certificates including hardness (200-240HB), microstructure, and decarburization reports.
