Product Description
ASTM A20 AISI 1020 Carbon Steel Bars
1: AISI 1020 Steel Introduction
AISI 1020 steel is a low-carbon mild steel from the ASTM A20 standard. As a general-purpose carbon steel, it offers good weldability, formability, and machinability while maintaining moderate strength. With its low carbon content, AISI 1020 is less hardenable than alloy steels but excels in ductility and impact resistance. Commonly supplied in hot-rolled or cold-drawn conditions, SAE 1020 is widely used for structural components, machinery parts, axles, bolts, and low-stress gears where high strength is not critical. Typical hardness ranges from 110–120 HB (Brinell), making it suitable for applications requiring easy fabrication and surface treatments like carburizing.

6: Goods available in China
In China, AISI 1018 is widely available in various forms, including hot-rolled round bars, flat bars, sheets, and plates, with most steel mills and distributors maintaining stable stock. Due to its common use in machining, welding, and general fabrication, sourcing is generally fast and cost-effective.
For cold-drawn 1018 steel bars, suppliers usually keep inventory, but custom sizes may require short lead times. Hot-rolled 1018 steel plates are also easy to procure, though thickness availability depends on mill production schedules.
