1: AISI 1030 Steel Introduction
AISI 1030 steel is a medium-carbon steel grade from the ASTM A20 standard. As a general-purpose carbon structural steel, it offers good strength, moderate toughness, and excellent machinability. AISI 1030 is commonly supplied in hot-rolled or cold-drawn conditions and can be further heat-treated for enhanced mechanical properties. AISI 1030 is widely used in manufacturing mechanical components such as shafts, spindles, bolts, pins, and lightly stressed gears. Typical hardness ranges from 15–25 HRC in the as-rolled condition but can be increased through heat treatment (e.g., quenching and tempering) for higher strength applications.
